Nature Exploration Stations
First Saturday - On the first Saturday of every month, volunteers in Bernheim's Training-for-Naturalists program lead fun and entertaining Nature Exploration Stations at the Visitor Center. Both children and adults enjoy the varied interpretations of the nature of Bernheim at these events. The First Saturday program offers changing experiences each month. You might get to stroke a snake, look a toad in eye, hear hidden stories in plants and trees, figure out the food chain, and discover a whole lot more about your connections with nature. And you can get in touch with your natural creativity through take home nature inspired craft projects. Ages 5 and up.

Kidsfest
Second Saturday - A festival designed to entertain and educate children 12 years old and under. Children must be supervised by an adult. 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Free admission.

Bridal Fair at Paroquet Springs
Third Sunday (March 30, 2008)- You are invited to a Bridal Fair at Paroquet Springs; 12 pm - 5 pm, free admission for brides, $2.00 guests, free parking, fashion shows and giveaways.

Arbor Day Celebration
First Full Weekend- Come out to Bernheim Forest, pick up your free tree; then take a quick class on how to plant and care for your new investment. You can also take a hike with Mother Nature to see your tree in its full maturity.

Mt. Washington Spring Festival
Second Saturday - If you are looking for a place to spend quality time with the entire family, this is the great place. Mt. Washington Spring Fling will offer craft booths, food, parade, pagents and tons of fun stuff. Don't miss the kick-off to spring.

Mt. Washington Spring Fling 5K Run/Walk
Second Saturday - This 5K Run/Walk will take place in Mt. Washington, one of two run / walks in the county. The 5K will start at 8:00 am. Registration fee will be $12 if you pre-register before May 1st or register the day of for $17. Come sign up and accomplish your goals by signing up to participate in the run or the walk. Set your own pace, have fun and hope to see you there.

Red Crow Indian Pow Wow
First full weekend - The Indian Pow Wow displays an array of cultural background to educate and entertain anyone who is interested. School groups are welcomed on Friday, traders, dancers, food & cultural exhibits are just some of the experience you will have when you attend.

Annual Salt River Canoe Race
4th of July - Compete for the trophy, or take a scenic ride down the Salt River. Come and enjoy any activity you decide to take on. Canoeing is a great way to excise and relieve stress. Sign up and have fun at the same time.

Shepherdsville Civil War Days
First Saturday (Sept 13, 2008) - This is a Civil War Reenactment an all day event, Skirmish begins at 2:00 p.m. Come spend the afternoon in the park and enjoy the excitement of the Salt River Civil War Battle.

Bluegrass 101 Festival
Last Friday & Saturday - Held from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on Friday, and Saturday from noon to 10:00pm. Admission $10 (Friday), $15 (Saturday) or $20 (both days). Children 12 and under are FREE. The bands are Bluegrass 101, Cherryholmes, Paul Williams & the Victory Trio, David Davis & the Warrior River Boys, Sassafras, No Tools Loaned, Sammy Adkins & the Sandy Hook Mountain Boys, and Dean Osborne. We would love to have you come out and be with us! It will be held under a large pavilion...rain or shine "the show will go on". All net proceeds will go toward the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Smithsonian's New Harmonies Exhibit

Bernheim's BugFest
1st Saturday - On This First Saturday, Nature Discovery Day, Bernheim will be a buzz with all sorts of fun as we explore insects and other little crawly things. Free programs and activities at the Visitor Center from 1:00 - 4:00 pm will celebrate our diminutive neighbors.

Bernheim at Night Fall Fest
Last Friday - Harvest Moon Hullabaloo and Twilight Tree Walk - This celebration of the arrival of autumn is a unique event for both families with children and adults without children! On this special night, some of our trees have the power to speak. As you walk along a luminaria-lit path, you'll hear true tales told by the trees themselves! All activities begin at the Visitor Center. Age 5 and up.

Bernheim 5K Run/Walk

The Home Of The Innocents will now be the coordinator for this event. Location will be at Bernheim forest for that scenic route we all so love.
